our first transformative space

Our first ✨️transformative space✨️ of 2025 is one for our record books: Lowest Ceiling Height Ever at a staggering six feet, seven inches tall! 🙀

We were able to purposefully define a gross motor area, seating and TV, dedicated craft space, and special pretend play/cozy nook.

It’s almost hard to believe this glow-up, and we created it!

Swipe through to see the transformation come to life. Proof that anything is possible with vision, experience, and resources.

Our mission

Greenwich Play has always been a mission-driven company founded as a resource for caregivers looking to create healthy, supportive spaces for their children to develop, play, and learn.

As our company has grown and the realities of running what actual professionals tell me is now called a “real” business (🙃), I’ve found moments where my mission felt overshadowed by the demands of growth, particularly in the last year.

So, as we step into 2025, I’m excited to tell you about Greenwich Play’s “Year of Transformative Spaces” and why we are dedicating this year to creating play environments that go beyond design and truly impact the lives of children and families everywhere.

To us, a “transformative space” is more than turning a dingy basement into a beautiful playroom. It’s more than the “WOW” in that before and after. It’s creating an environment that transforms how children engage with the world around them.

That’s the key🔑

Creativity, problem-solving, fine and gross motor skills, and social-emotional growth are all being shaped during “playtime,” often in ways that aren’t immediately visible.

✨️The environment where this development occurs is just as important as the activities and materials themselves, if not more.✨️

We’re not here for likes. We’re not content creators or influencers. We aren’t trying to sell you anything. In 2025, we want our platform to spread awareness about the importance of purposeful play spaces and make intentionally designed play spaces more accessible to all.

More to come. . .👊🏻

dear santa

Dear Santa,

This year, I don't want anything wrapped in a bow or stuffed in a stocking. Instead, I’m writing to ask for something much more critical: purposeful, meaningful play experiences for all the children and families.

Santa, we’ve seen what happens when playrooms are filled with throwaway toys - ones that capture attention for a fleeting moment, only to be forgotten in a cluttered corner. These toys don’t spark creativity, build skills, stand the test of time, or grow with a child. Instead, they take up physical and mental space and don’t offer the joy or connection that play is meant to bring.

I want parents to see beyond the holiday rush and think about the true impact of what they’re placing under the tree. Before buying, let’s pause and ask ourselves:

🎁Where will this go? Does it have a place in our home where it can live purposefully, not just contribute to the mess?

🎁Who will play with it? Does it invite engagement from siblings, friends, or even the whole family?

🎁How long will it last? Is it built to inspire curiosity and creativity over time? Will it grow with my child?

🎁What does it teach? Does it encourage problem-solving, role-playing, or active movement? Does it allow children to create, imagine, and explore?

Santa, I dream that families everywhere purchase with intention, prioritizing toys and materials that foster exploration and discovery. So, if you need ✨️ANY✨️ help at all, feel free to look at our gift guide (link in bio)😉.

Wishing you a sleigh full of thoughtful intentions,

The importance of your child’s environment

Have you ever considered how much the environment impacts your child’s ability to engage in play? That's ✨️precisely✨️ what we do at Greenwich Play.

Children thrive when they feel a sense of ownership over their environment. A thoughtfully designed playroom that meets their needs and interests makes them feel valued and supported. It becomes their safe space to express themselves, try out new ideas, and even make mistakes, all critical parts of learning and growth.

At Greenwich Play, we emphasize the importance of intentionally designed spaces because where children play is just as important as how they play.

a foundation for lifelong development

The playroom is not just a space for toys; it’s a foundational environment for your child’s growth.

It influences cognitive, emotional, and social development and sets the stage for creativity and learning.

Our designs focus on environments that enhance early learning, social interaction, and emotional regulation because we know that 90% of brain development happens before age five.

Investing in an intentionally designed play space means you’re not just creating a space for your child to play in but building a foundation for their lifelong development.

a gentle reminder

This is a gentle reminder that our kids are spending more time indoors and less time outside running around, meaning they are:
extra wiggly,
extra loud,
extra holiday-y
extra everything,
and they can't help themselves.

✨️But we can help them.✨️

Having an indoor outlet to turn to is critical in a seasonal climate. We love how this space encourages major active, open-ended play while still feeling warm and cohesive with the rest of the home.

Playrooms can be purposeful and chic and blend seamlessly with the rest of your home.

anxious generation

The pervasive use of screens led to what we now know as the "Anxious Generation." While technology connects us in many ways, it can also be incredibly isolating. For children, this isolation leads to fewer opportunities to develop real-world social skills, resilience, and creativity.

One powerful antidote?

✨️Purposeful shared play spaces✨️ and it's why we love designing them. Whether in condo buildings or community centers, these spaces become a sanctuary for children to reclaim independence and connection.

When children play together, they encounter challenges like who gets the ball first, how to divide roles in a game, or what happens when someone disagrees. These moments of conflict resolution and compromise are critical for building emotional strength and adaptability, life skills that help reduce anxiety.

By providing children with enriching play spaces that prioritize connection and creativity, we’re not just keeping them off screens. We're teaching them to engage with life, collaborate, dream, and thrive.

its not all about the wow features

In playroom design, we often focus on those "wow" features: climbing walls, pretend play stages, swings, and all the neat elements that spark imagination.

However, a genuinely successful playroom supports children through all stages of play. Real play has its ups and downs, just like life. Sometimes, there’s frustration, overstimulation, or even dysregulation.

✨️That’s why it’s essential to design spaces that support those moments, too.✨️

For example, quiet corners, sensory-friendly nooks, or cozy reading areas provide a safe retreat when children need a break. These spots can help a child self-regulate and return to play feeling refreshed and grounded.

Calming colors, soft textures, and flexible seating options also add a layer of comfort and support, letting kids take a moment to breathe before diving back into their imaginative worlds.

Designing a playroom isn’t just about maximizing excitement; it’s about ensuring children feel safe, supported, and capable of handling whatever emotions come up during play.

dream team

Grateful doesn’t even begin to describe it.

This incredible team of women — mothers, creatives, and visionaries — shares their time, talents, and lives with me.

Each brings a unique perspective that shapes Greenwich Play; without them, this company wouldn’t be what it is.

Together, we’ve built more than chic, purposeful playrooms; we’ve built a culture that prioritizes family and supports each other as mothers, friends, and colleagues.

I am so honored to stand alongside these incredible women every day (and the few not pictured... full team shots are more challenging to coordinate than family photos!).

keep kids active!

Did you know that basketball was invented in 1891 by Dr. James Naismith, a Canadian physical education instructor, to keep his students active indoors during the winter?

The original game used a soccer ball, and instead of hoops, the players aimed for peach baskets nailed to the wall!

Things have changed a little, but the intention remains the same: keep kids active!
